AcuteKids is proud to be the first facility of its kind to offer a rapid testing solution. We know that you want results quickly for peace of mind. Our state-of-the-art rapid testing option - FDA-approved Cepheid GeneXpert Xpress® - gives you safe, accurate results in under one hour.
This single nasal swab test provides results for:
- SARS-COV-2 (COVID-19 coronavirus)
- Flu A
- Flu B
- Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) Infection
An additional throat swab culture test also provides results for Streptococcal Pharyngitis (strep throat).
Not all rapid testing is equal.
The Cepheid GeneXpert Xpress® tests at the DNA molecular level, which yields fast and accurate results. This test is a COVID-19 RT-PCR (real-time reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction) and is the same type of rapid COVID-testing done at hospitals and fulfills school mandates.
We also offer Rapid Antigen Testing. This method - used for asymptomatic screening - tests for the presence of proteins on the surface of the virus.

Our Story
We are parents, providers, healers, athletes, and super moms and dads. Years ago we realized that Urgent Care wasn’t made for kids. Waiting rooms were boring and care was insufficient. Lets face it-kids aren’t easy!
So in 2017, our Founder Chrysa Charno, a Mom and Emergency Medicine/Urgent Care PA set out to change Pediatric Urgent Care in Rochester. After months of preparation, we have gathered a team of Pediatricians and Advanced Practice Providers (PAs/NPs) who have extensive experience with kids and urgent medical needs. Along with our Pediatric Nursing staff, we will care for your child as they are our own- and have fun doing it!
Our goal has and always will be to provide the most up to date, pediatric specific care by the best heros in Rochester. All of our providers have specific Pediatric training and are made to take care of kids! Whether your child has a fever or fell playing sports, we are highly trained, experienced professionals to recognize and care for your child.
